Tis’ the Season for Community and Giving Back

Reflecting on 2022, we recognize that we are stronger as a “community” – one of the core values at OpenSymmetry. The holiday season is the perfect time to bring us together and focus on this. Many of our employees take time to give back to their local community, which brings smiles and joy to those around them.

Members of the OpenSymmetry team in Austin gave back to the local community as they volunteered at the H-E-B Feast of Sharing Holiday Dinner in November. The H-E-B Feast of Sharing celebrates the season with holiday meals for food banks and donations to hunger relief organizations throughout Texas. Linda Butchko, Christie Moreno, Lindsey DeRynck, Jonna Bonham, Robin Graves, Luke Schmitt, and local partners served the community with a delicious free meal.

This time of year also marks a time when we count our blessings and recognize all that we should be thankful for.  The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program provides new clothing and toys for children of families in need through the support of donors. Found in local malls, companies and churches, Angel Trees are decorated with numbered paper angel tags with the first name, age and gender of a child in need of gifts. Contributors remove one or more tags from the tree and purchase appropriate gifts for the child or children described on the tags. Every year, OpenSymmetry adopts a few families, and our employees can contribute from near and far.

Christie Moreno shared what this means to her: “Through the Angel tree mission, we can give hope and much needed joy to those in need in the Central Texas area. It is truly because of the participating donors that these kids will have a joyous holiday season”.

At OpenSymmetry, it’s all about our team. Our people make up the heart and strength of the organization. We believe that our core values – Teamwork, Respect, Community, Genuine, and Innovation – embody what we’re made of.
