SQL Scripts and Varicent

Varicent allows SQL scripts to extend the functionality of the tool.

Varicent has the ability to run SQL scripts automatically via its scheduler and workflow modules. This provides clients the ability to utilize the full functionality of SQL in their incentive logic.

On one client implementation, the client’s use of wildcards resulted in thousands of excess crediting rules being created. A SQL script was used to remove any crediting rules that did not impact incentives. The script compared the crediting rules to the incoming transactional data and identified which crediting rules had no impact on assigned credits. This provided administrators with a smaller set of crediting rules to maintain. The script was scheduled to run on a daily basis and was fully automated.
